The only thing that speaks about the mental abilities of dolphins is the fact that they have twice as many brain convolutions as a human. These unique mammals have a "social consciousness", a complex hierarchy, and a polyphonic language. The latter, by the way, surpasses the most complex languages of mankind (Chinese, Russian) in the palette of its intonations!
These noble animals are also known for their help to drowning people. More than once they had to rescue drowning people, delivering them on their own back to a safe shore. Just as often, they sent ships that went off course to land. Therefore, the symbolism of salvation is inextricably linked with elegant dolphins. Other characteristic features of dolphins are also of great importance: dexterity, impetuosity, freedom-loving. However, their acrobatic tricks are just the tip of the iceberg. The image of graceful animals symbolizes much more - the transition to another life, a step to the next level. Anyway, a tattoo with a silhouette of a mammal contains an exceptionally positive energy. Let's consider for example some interpretations of the image in different eras.
But the ancient Greeks liked love and subtle eroticism. And, I must say, they were not so far from the truth. Since dolphins are called almost the only ones (not counting the people themselves) who are able to make love just for fun. The Hellenes treated the animals with respect, calling them the kings of the sea,and Poseidon-their patron.
The Minoan civilization also saw dolphins as the rulers of the sea. And the Etruscan culture even designated animals as faithful companions of the gods. Allegedly, the latter only travel on them.
In the Christian religion, all sea creatures (except the eel) were likened to wonderful fish. Who can both feed and bring salvation. Therefore, the comparison of a big fish with Jesus Christ will not confuse anyone for a long time. Because they were both, in their essence, holy saviours.
An interesting interpretation was given to mammals in Cretan mythology. According to their legends, drunken sailors became dolphins. And the transformation procedure was carried out by the powerful god Dionysus, who was in charge of the Delphic repository. There are no restrictions here. The contours of dolphins can be of any size, and can be placed on any part of the body. People especially liked the colorful images in the Yin-Yang style (when two animals circle each other), as well as in marine equipment (it is often stuffed with representatives of the fleet). The most popular place to place a tattoo was the male forearm. Women prefer to apply animals to thin places: ankles, wrists, neck. Thereby showing the world their femininity and grace.
Based on all of the above, we can judge the owner of such a tattoo as a positive person. Who believes in his luck and dream.
